That’s not XTC! iTunes Store Feature Suggestion
I use the iTunes Store as a way to find and preview music, and I’ve purchased quite a bit of music and TV shows through it. I’ve seen several cases where music has been mis-labeled or mis-categorized. For example, the last two albums on this page for the UK band XTC:
I’m not the only one who noticed this particular problem.
Other users used the review interface for the album as a means to let Apple know what they should do:
Here’s another example of a user pointing out incorrect track names on iTunes, this time for the artist Sebastian (iTunes page):
My suggestion here is simple: listen to the community, and add a “report a problem” link, similar to the review problem reporting, that allows users to notify Apple staff about errors like these. It could allow free-text comments, but it could also have an option field that would allow users to select one of these types of options:
- Incorrectly named tracks
- Wrong album artwork
- Incorrectly labeled album
- …
Then Apple staff could use the incoming quantitative data to automatically categorize and prioritize manual reviews of their catalog.
It’s a good practice to monitor the comments coming from your community to discover the need for new types of interactions or features.
